Positive Behavioral Intervention and Support (PBIS)
What is PBIS?
PBIS stands for Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports, and is a disciplinary framework that uses positive reinforcements to support students socially, emotionally, and academically. Through our implementation of this framework, our coaches have been able to decrease disciplinary referrals in some districts by up to 79%!
How We Implement PBIS
Adopting school values: Coast 2 Coast and the school staff will discuss the 3 values that are currently part of the school’s PBIS framework.
Implementation of school values: Our coaches will then implement and reinforce these values out on the field during lunch recess
Acknowledgement system: Students are split into two teams, and each team will be rewarded with points for exhibiting good behavior.
Feedback system: The students will receive immediate, corrective feedback on the field. Further feedback may be given by teachers or the principal when necessary.
Data Collection: Coast 2 Coast asks that schools record the referrals logged during lunch recessAssessment: Coast 2 Coast and the school principal can review the statistical difference in logged referrals pre and post implementation of the Coast 2 Coast Lunch Recess program
